'Local Knowledge' A BMX Documentary. from Bret Trigg Visual on Vimeo.
Local Knowledge A BMX Documentary. After lots of planning, countless meetings, frustrated riders, the plans were set & construction was scheduled. 18.07.11 Construction commenced on the Warrnambool Skatepark. Taking 6 long weeks to be completed. 29.08.11 Construction was completed. Park opened to the public. The documentary named 'Local Knowledge' is about the role the local BMX riders played in the re-development of the Warrnambool skatepark. With the vast amount of talent within only a few dedicated riders, this documentary looks at what influenced them in creating the layout for the skatepark, their feelings on being able to basically design their localskatepark that they've ridden for countless years & what they look forward to in the new park and what it'll bring to, what is an already such a small, talented group of riders. All the riding action is @ 5:10 Don't miss that! Lots of good riding in there! Bret Trigg + Sam Fitzgibbon + Jake Arndell iPhone Edit. |
Hey all!
Just a quick little update with what I’ve been up to. Last week I arrived home to Australia after a month long holiday / filming trip to America. It was such a good experience, many good times were had and lots of memories created. We flew into LAX the 21st of June. We headed down to Anaheim where I had a FMX shoot organised with Jarryd McNeil for FIST Handwear.
Jarryd and I used to race motocross together a few years back and were good friends, it was awesome being able to hang out with an old mate and reminisce on old times. I’d always wanted to be able to film FMX ever since I started filming, no better way to start of filming with one of the world best FMX riders. So much style within Jarryds riding. After that shoot we headed down to Santa Monica, the beach was right across from where we were staying so it felt a lot like home. Santa Monica was really nice except for all the homeless people sleeping on sidewalks. After 3 days in Santa Monica we headed over to “Pro Town” Greenville, North Carolina.
I was so excited to go there not just to experience what everybody has talked about, but to be able to hang out with Andrew Ahumada, Matt Whyatt, Kyle Baldock and other good friends. Not to mention the huge amount of Australians in Greenville at the present time. It felt so at home, everybody was so nice and welcoming! Always helping us get a lift to the sessions or out to dinner to chill with everybody, it really is a BMX community at its best! The level of riding going down every session is awesome, but at the same time everybody is smiling and having an awesome time! It was so cool to be able to ride / film at Dave Mirra’s warehouse. That’s definitely a memory I wont forget anytime soon. I did a huge amount of filming. Matt Whyatt and I got a Impurity / FIST Handwear collaboration video done so expect big things within the next couple of weeks!
It sucked leaving Greenville after having an awesome 3weeks there with all the Australians, but it’s been good being back at home with family, friends and my girlfriend! Nothing like sleeping in your own bed after sleeping on a couch for the last week haha!
The other day a couple of mates and I headed down to Timboon to have a ride, as our park is closed as its getting add ons and things fixed. Excited for it to be complete and to film a quick little video. Timboons only small but we thought we’d film some clips on my iPhone. It was a good day riding with mates back in Australia.
Basically within the next couple of weeks I’ll be hard editing all the footage that I filmed over in the states. I think I will have roughly 7-8 videos out from the trip, very busy but all great memories and such good times! For now enjoy a couple of pictures from Mirra’s warehouse after a session and Santa Monica’s Pier, and the quick little iPhone video we shot.
A huge thanks goes out to my family, Sam Fitzgibbon & Family and my girlfriend Ashlee for all the help getting us organised and helping plan for my trip. All the people from the trip that made it such an amazing experience. Everyone over in Greenville especially all the awesome Aussie boys! Huge thanks to Ryan Guettler & Chris Hughes for driving us around to sessions or out to dinner. Last but not least, thanks to the guys at Impurity bikes for hooking me up with a fresh new red Mirrage before heading to America. It’s a awesome red and the parts continue to run amazing. Thanks so much!
Thanks everyone! Check out my videos from my trip at http://vimeo.com/user282179/videos

Jack Mciver's Impurity Edit... |
Jack Mciver - Impurity Bike Co. from Kurt Teague on Vimeo. Jack Mciver - Impurity Bike Co Edit!
Jack is 19 years old, and lives in Ballarat, Victoria. He rides for Impurity Bike Co. Filming this edit with Jack was so enjoyable, and there was never a boring moment. Sadly, due to concrete being very hard and tough, it wanted to hurt Jacks foot, so we missed out on filming a couple of clips, but they will be seen in the future for sure. For now, enjoy this!
Filmed: Canon 550D with Canon Kit Lenses (18-55mm and 55-250mm) and Samyang 8mm Fisheye.
Edited: Adobe Premiere CS5.
